DK’s Recovery covers Sheffield city centre around the clock, for drivers, businesses, taxi and private hire operators and anyone whose vehicle has stopped where it should not have. Cars, vans, motorcycles and non-runners, collected from the street, the multi-storey or the car park and taken wherever they need to go.

Our breakdown recovery runs day and night in the centre, which is where a stopped vehicle causes the most trouble the fastest. A car that will not start on a side street is a nuisance. The same car on the inner ring road at half past five, or on the tram alignment, is a problem for several hundred other people as well. One call gets a truck moving.

When a vehicle cannot be driven, we come and get it. We recover cars, vans, motorcycles and non-runners across the city centre, and we carry them on a flatbed rather than dragging them. That matters for anything with a locked wheel, a failed gearbox, an automatic that should not be towed, or bodywork that will not survive a rope.
City centre recovery is mostly a problem of access rather than distance. We are minutes away, but the question is whether a truck can reach the vehicle and get alongside it: the deck height in a multi-storey, a bay hemmed in on both sides, a bus lane, a pedestrianised street with bollards, a hill steep enough to matter. Tell us those things on the phone and we will bring the right truck first time instead of turning up and having to rethink.
The centre is surrounded by ground we cover daily — Attercliffe east, Crookes and Tapton Hall west, Hillsborough north.

Breakdowns do not keep office hours, so neither do we. Rush hour, midnight, Sunday morning, bank holidays included. The centre is busiest for us late at night and early on weekend mornings, when people come back for cars they sensibly left in town.

DK’s Recovery covers Sheffield city centre 24 hours a day. Call with your location, the vehicle, and anything that affects access, and you will get a straight answer on timing and price before we set off.

Years of recovery work across Sheffield, on everything from a flat battery on a city centre street to a car that has left the road.

We give you a realistic time and a price before we set off, and we turn up when we say we will.

Properly equipped and properly insured trucks, with every vehicle secured to standard for the journey.
We work for private drivers, city centre businesses, taxi and private hire drivers and commercial operators across the centre, from Kelham Island and Castlegate to the Devonshire Quarter, Moorfoot, the station and the university streets. Most of our work comes from people who called us once and kept the number.
We are close by, so the delay is usually access rather than distance. Tell us the obstacles and we will be quicker.
Day and night, every day of the year, bank holidays included.
Towing and transport on fully equipped recovery trucks, matched to the size of the vehicle and the space around it.
Roadside help for breakdowns, battery trouble, engine faults and anything else that has stopped the car moving.
Quick jump starts across the centre, including in multi-storeys where there is room to get alongside.
Damaged vehicles handled carefully and transported securely after a collision.
Vans, taxis and private hire cars recovered, with the working day taken into account rather than ignored.
Cover across the inner ring road, the Parkway, the station approaches and every street inside them.
City centre recovery is a question of access rather than distance. These are the places it comes up most.
St Mary's Gate, Shalesmoor, Netherthorpe Road, Furnival Gate and the Park Square roundabout carry most of the traffic round the centre, and there is very little room to stop on any of them. If the car will still move at all, get it off the ring road and onto a side street before you stop. If it will not, put the hazards on, get everyone out on the pavement side, and call from there.
The usual limit is height, not distance: a standard flatbed will not fit under most multi-storey decks. Tell us which car park and which level, and whether the bay is hemmed in, and we will confirm what is possible before setting out. There is more on this in our guide to getting a car out of a Sheffield car park.
Sheffield is built on hills and that changes recovery more than people expect. A car with no drive or no brakes on a slope has to be secured before it is moved at all, and the truck has to be positioned for the gradient. It is worth mentioning the hill when you call, not when we arrive.
The Supertram runs through the centre and along West Street, and a vehicle stopped on the tram alignment holds up a great deal more than cars. Fargate and The Moor are pedestrianised with restricted vehicle access. In both cases, tell us exactly where the vehicle is and which side a truck can reach it from.
A good share of our city centre work is not breakdowns at all. It is people who left the car in town for the right reasons and cannot collect it the next morning. We move those as readily as we move broken ones, and there is more on where you can leave a car and why the morning after catches people out in our guide to leaving your car overnight after a night out.
We cover the whole of the centre and the streets around it: Kelham Island, Castlegate, Victoria Quays, the Cathedral quarter, Fargate, The Moor, Moorfoot, the Devonshire Quarter, West Street, Broomhall, Park Hill, the station and Sheaf Square, and both university areas.
Usually, but height is the deciding factor rather than distance, because most multi-storey decks are too low for a standard flatbed. Tell us which car park, which level and whether the bay is boxed in, and we will confirm what we can do before we set off.
Get it off the carriageway if it will still move, and onto a side street if you can. If it will not move, hazards on, everyone out on the pavement side, and stand well clear before you call. If anyone is hurt or the vehicle is blocking the tram or a live lane, dial 999 first.
Yes, and it is a normal job for us rather than an unusual one. We can collect from a city centre car park or a street bay and take the car to your home or work on a flatbed. Tell us where it is parked and where it needs to go.
The zone is the council's scheme, not ours, and it charges non-compliant vans, taxis, buses and lorries rather than private cars. Check the council's current rules if you drive one of those. It does not change what we can recover or where from.
It depends on the vehicle, where it needs to go, the time of day and how difficult the access is. Give us those details and you will know the price before anything moves.
Usually quickly, since it is the middle of our patch. The variable is access rather than travel time, so the more you tell us about where the vehicle is sitting, the more accurate the time we give you will be.
