DK’s Recovery covers Handsworth around the clock. It sits on the A57, the road that runs east out of Sheffield toward the M1 and Worksop, and that road is where most of our Handsworth work happens.

Our breakdown recovery runs day and night. Whether the car has stopped on Retford Road, will not start on a side street off Handsworth Road, or has lost drive climbing out toward Richmond, one call gets a truck moving. Tell us which stretch of road you are on and we will find you quickly.

When a vehicle cannot be driven, we come and get it. We recover cars, vans, motorcycles and non-runners across Handsworth, and we carry them on a flatbed rather than dragging them. That matters for a locked wheel, a failed gearbox, an automatic that should not be towed, or bodywork that will not survive a rope.
Handsworth is a commuter corridor as much as a suburb. The A57 carries a steady flow between the city and the motorway, and a good share of the cars we recover here were not going to or from Handsworth at all — they simply stopped in it. That is worth knowing when you call, because if you are passing through and the car is going somewhere else entirely, we would rather price the real journey than the local one.
The same runs take in Woodhouse, Gleadless and Attercliffe, so being just over a boundary does not change what we can do or how long it takes.

Breakdowns do not keep office hours, so neither do we. Early commutes, night shifts, weekends and bank holidays included. If you are stranded in Handsworth in the middle of the night, the phone is answered by someone who can send a truck rather than a call centre that will ring you back.

Years of recovery work on Sheffield’s eastern corridor, between the city and the M1.

We give you a realistic time and a price before we set off, and we turn up when we say we will.

Properly equipped and properly insured trucks, with every vehicle secured to standard for the journey.
We work for residents and local businesses in Handsworth and Richmond, and for the through traffic on the A57 that had no intention of stopping here.
We respond quickly, and the A57 is a road we are on constantly.
Day and night, every day of the year, bank holidays included.
Towing and transport on fully equipped recovery trucks, matched to the size and condition of the vehicle.
Roadside help for breakdowns, battery trouble, engine faults and anything else that has stopped the car moving.
Quick jump starts across Handsworth, and an honest answer when the battery is past saving rather than flat.
Lost or locked-in keys handled by moving the vehicle, since a car that cannot be steered has to be winched rather than driven on.
Same day collection wherever we can, and an honest time when we cannot.
Cover across the A57 Retford Road, Handsworth Road, Richmond, Darnall and the roads down to Woodhouse and the Parkway.
Handsworth is strung along the A57, the old road east to the motorway and on to Worksop. Most of what we do here happens on or near it.
This is the one. It runs east from Handsworth out to M1 junction 31 at Aston and on toward Todwick and Worksop, and it carries steady commuter and lorry traffic in both directions. There is not always somewhere obvious to pull off, so if the car is losing power, take the first side road you can rather than pressing on to find a better spot.
The original village street and the terraces around it are narrower, with parking on both sides. It is workable but it decides which truck we send. Say if access is tight or your car is boxed in.
South of the main road the ground rises toward Richmond and Woodhouse. Nothing dramatic by Sheffield standards, but enough that a car with no drive or no brakes needs securing before it is moved, and enough that ice arrives earlier than it does in the valley.
North and west, Handsworth runs into Darnall and the Parkway is minutes away. If you have stopped on the Parkway rather than in Handsworth, say so straight away: it is a fast road, and the priority is getting people away from traffic before anything else.
We cover Handsworth, Richmond, Darnall, Woodhouse, Woodthorpe and out along the A57 to Aston, Swallownest and junction 31.
Take the first side road or lay-by you can reach rather than pressing on. If the car has already stopped on the carriageway, hazards on, everyone out on the pavement side, and stand well back before you call. It is a busier road than it looks.
Yes, and it is common here. Tell us where the car actually needs to end up rather than assuming we will take it to the nearest garage. If home is a long way off, that is a transport job priced on the distance, and it is better to know that on the first call.
Yes. The A57 out through Aston and Todwick to junction 31 is a route we run constantly, and we cover Worksop at the far end of it too.
It gets secured before anything moves and the truck is positioned for the gradient. Tell us which way the car is facing as well as where it is, and we will arrive set up for it.
It depends where you are, where the vehicle needs to go, the time of day and what we are recovering. Call with those details and you will have a figure before we set off.
Yes, along with Woodhouse, Aston and Swallownest. The whole eastern corridor is regular ground for us.
